Its almost upon us.  In about 30 hours or so the NLDS will be under way and we can finally get this show started.  Its amazing we are even in this thing given the way the season started, but in spite of all the injuries we still have a pretty good shot to go far.  The anticipation has been wigging me out.  So to busy my mind I’ve been noodling what the final 25 man roster will look like (yeah its Wednesday and Donnie still hasn’t finalized the roster. They have until tomorrow morning so why rush?).

So here we go:

The locks:

Catcher:

AJ Ellis

Tim Federowicz

Position Players:

Adrian Gonzalez (1B)

Mellis (2B)

Hanley Ramirez (SS)

Juan Uribear (3B)

Carl Crawford (LF)

Skip Schumaker (sigh, CF)

Yasiel Puig (RF)

Starting Pitchers

Clayton Kershaw (game 1)

Zack Greinke (game 2)

Hyun-jin Ryu (game 3)

Ricky Nolasco (game 4)

Relief Corps

Kenley Jansen

Brian Wilson

Paco Rodriguez

Chris Withrow

JP Howell

Ronald Belisario

Chris Capuano

Bench

Nick Punto

Andre Ethier

Michael Young

And that brings us up to 23 players, leaving 2 spots open.  So who makes the cut?  On the bubble we have Scott Van Slyke, Dee Gordon, Jerry Hairston Jr., Carlos Marmol, Brandon League, Edinson Volquez.  The more I think about it, SVS has got to be on the roster. Skip is gonna start in CF and Ethier is restricted to pinch hitting duties so an extra out fielder is a must.  Now do we go with an extra reliever? Or position player.  Given Ethier’s situation, Im gonna go with Dee Gordon. Donnie will probably go with Jerry Hairston because of course.  But I hope its either Dee or Marmol.  Whichever way it goes, this shit gets real tomorrow.  Get excited, cuz we got Clayton going for us. Let’s win!
